I hoping someone on here has a 1953 "12 volt" starter that fits on the 303 motor. ONLY 1953 HAS THE DRIVE FOR A 303 FLYWHEEL AND WAS CHANGED STOCK TO 12 VOLT. Will not work: 49 to 52 are 6volt and 54 up fit the 324 motor flywheel ONLY 53 WAS BOTH 12VOLT AND FOR THE 303 FLYWHEEL. Picture will not do any good as the 303 and 324 starter look the same. 53 looks like the both and has the drive or gears to mesh with the 303 flywheel, and the coil inside is set up 12V instead of 6 volt. Once it went to 54 Olds went to 324 different flywheel and changed the starter drive gears... 53 was the transition year only to the starter to make it 12Volt after that it all changed other then the 12volt. I will have to see if there is numbers somewhere if you think you might have a 53 starter. Easy to see if it is 12Volt but difficult to know if the starter gear is still for the 303 flywheel. . Do you think you might have this l53 transition starter?

A picture would do me good when I may need to search 1000 cores to find it. If the 53-54 starter will mount with the same housing, changing the drive and windings can be done. Look on ebay right now and search 1107603. That may be what you need.
