KH power sterring pully
where to send photos or price?
PS pulley attachment went
1) Keyed shaft and thin nut
often impossible to remove w/o damaging the pulley
thru about 1970
2) Keyed shaft and nut now with puller lip on pulley
makes removal w/o damaging the pulley possible
around 71-2-3 maybe
3) Hey, shoot, if we need a puller anyhow, why not just go for a tight press fit and rely on friction to hold the pulley in place? No key in shaft, no nut, just a puller lip.
1974 or so, by the 1977 metric era almost certainly
Pics can be posted here or send to bregitzere@yahoo.com My car is a 71 with a late 70 build date.
perhaps a photo today.
For removal, I should do a youtube video, I sacrificed a few [mainly already mangled] pulleys to find out how to remove the keyed type. Basically if you touch it with any tool, it is ruined. Touch it with gloved hands only. Use the tools only on the nut and/or shaft. May require two people.

Right there on the shelf were both types
Almost identical
"KH" stamp
6.6 x 1.95" or so
2-groove
Type 1: Early one [c. 1968-70] has keyway and no puller lip, and one hole, for the shaft
Type 2: Later one says "G-Body" on it in my writing
has NO KEYWAY, is press fit only, therefore...
sports a puller tool lip.
Also bears three additional holes in the face, between shaft hole and sheaves, presumably to ease access to the adjuster bolt holding pump to brackets, behind the pulley.
I propped them both up on identical spacers off the table, and observed that the grooves were at the same height off the table. This indicates that the grooves end up pretty much in the same location fore-aft with respect to an engine's other pulleys. So, it appears that one could use a G-body era metric fitting pump on an engine with 1968-70 era PS+AC Pulleys by just selecting the G-body era pump with the lipped KH 2 groove pulley.
well, photos sent, have not heard back
If your pulley is already ruined, it should be easy to remove.
If it's already removed, then just put the new one on.
Lube the shaft to make future removal easy.
I'd like to wrap this up, the pulley is still on the kitchen table, awaiting a purchase. Last one left in town extracted clean and pretty.
