If it is the original engine from the JS1, then it is the 10.5 comp engine and has a shallower dish. There were 2 different high compression pistons, 10.25 and 10.50.
Side note: I'm deducing this is where and why Olds came up with the term "Ultra High Compression". With the 10.25 already considered "High Compression", they needed something to call the 10.5.

that's cool guess I have 10 more hp I didn't know bout.... lol
I am wondering if it was the piston that made the comp difference ? or was it head combustion chamber size or shim gasket size difference ?

Man, your timing sucks! My son and I were at the Nostalgia Race at Bradenton this past Sunday. I'm over on the East coast, near Ft. Lauderdale. I can press one off and ship it. E-mail me and we can figure something out: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.
