The ARPs might sound expensive now but....... in the big picture you might be doing yourself a favor using them. I sure WOULD NOT recommend using used ones if you are doing a fresh re-build. I'll repeat my motto again---"Do it nice, not twice!" There are new replacements available but probably won't be a whole lot cheaper.

X2, I understand the budget thing, slow the build down a bit if you have too and buy ARP's. I do have a new set; unopened ARP rod bolts for a 425, maybe the same, if interested I can cross match the part numbers, I'm thinking $50.00-Merry Christmas...

I disagree.

The standard-type head bolts are non-stretch and can be reused without a problem.
Obviously, if you're building an engine to have much higher CC pressures than stock, you might want to consider stronger bolts, but if it's just a regular rebuild, there's nothing wrong with reusing head bolts.

If you need the factory style head bolts,I have plenty of them.I've used factory bolts,ARP bolts, and ARP studs, depending on the application.

I totally reused most engine bolts when i rebuilt my 6 Cylinder marine engine, probably not the same as an awesome Rocket V-8.

But, the engine has been running strong for 4 years now. I can't kill it!

Cheers,

Tony

Well, thank you for the replys but this build is taking long enough as is. Its just a very mild build, just all top end stuff. I actually got rid of the car the motor came out of the other day and when I was cleaning it out I found the stock head bolts sitting inside the valve covers. I'm going to go ahead and use those and finally start putting this motor together!
