Hood release handle bushing

I'm looking for the bushing the hood release handle rides through for a 1969 Cutlass. In the picture below it's the part called the retainer. I've looked for a replacement online but can't seem to find one, if anyone knows any aftermarket company that makes one I'd really appreciate a link, or if you have one, say like off a parts car, I'd be interested in that too.
Thanks,
Scott

Absolutely no luck at all. I'm probably going to have to have one made.

Hood release bushing

May have at least one extra laying around....might not be pristine but might work if still interested. Will dig through my stash tonight and post pictures of what I have available....

I looked in a few places and only came up with the smaller plastic bushings for the hide-a-way headlights ( Toronado ). I will continue to look and will let you know.

I am about throw out a bag of 100's of a similar thing at work... probably slightly different size, but I am thinking a McMaster-carr hole bushing is offered that will be close enough. Anyone got the hole ID that it fits into?

No luck at IGUS or McMaster but Google search brings up "hole liners" at

http://www.marklessastronomics.com/c...onnectors.html

Gotta know what they are called I guess

I did what Octania suggested and used a rubber bushing that is used for a wire harness passing through a metal panel. It was the type that had the groove around the outside edge that would lock it in place. I had to drill the hole in the bracket slightly larger but I found the bushing at my local hardware store. I took the handle and matched a bushing that would fit the handle and then drilled the bracket to accommodate the bushing.
