66-72 hood latch handle nylon retainer ring

Big request Guys. I'm looking for the nylon retainer ring that snaps into the hood latch assembly on the core support. This is the little round white nylon ring that rests around the hood latch handle. Original Part# 392703 and when new it was a whopping $.15 As luck would have it I have misplaced mine during my restoration. Does anyone have one of these lying in the bottom of your nuts and bolts pile? If you can help me out let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

What I did recently was to use a rubber grommet. It was the type that has groove in the outer center and is installed into a metal hole to protect wires. I picked it up at the hardware store, and I took that latch handle to make sure I got the correct ID. I had to enlarge the hold in the bracket slightly but it worked well. It fit nice and snug and there's no way it would rattle with the rubber insert in the hole.

It has been so long since I seen one of them I had forgot that there was one there. I think all mine are rotted off. I will look around and see if I have one.

Now I could have been wrong about that. I can GUARANTEE you that the A-Body cars didn't use it but the B/C body cars might. Sorry I tried to help,it wasn't critical hence the smilie face. Good Luck in your search for the part.

I've been looking for one for my cutlass. When the weather allows I'm going to go to some yards in St. Louis. If I see a vista I'll check it out for you.
