oil canning

To fix a piece of sheet metal that is oil canning is fairly easy...pop the part in and mark the center of it...then pop the dent out and heat the center where the mark is then quench it with water..slowly work the heat out to the edges of the dent then quench it with water..that will put the temper back in the metal..just heat it until it starts to change color...thats what an old timer told me to do to fix that problem..

If that doesn't work, I think I saw a hood over on ROP last week. Hope this helps.

Have one in very good shape. No rust in front lip. Two small surface spots smaller than a quarter. Louvers not bent. Chrome piece on nose is excellent. I'm in Red Oak, TX 75154. $1000. Prefer not to ship, but will deliver within 150 miles of here. PM me if interested.

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge but can someone explain what "walking" or "oil canning" is?
Thanks
