Fuel Pump Eccentric

I need a fuel pump eccentric and the bolt the holds it on. Mine backed out causing severe damage to both parts.

Thanks

I have several of each. Where are you located? Thanks, Bob.

Gotta wonder how that happened- not torqued right?

I have never seen that, in oh I guess 100+ engine dismantlings.

I too have plenty of them so looking at the cost of postage.

I've got to believe that he it also tore up the front cover; that's what the factory bolt rubs against. Ahah!! Maybe someone used a regular bolt to secure the eccentric

Hmmmm.... the only timing cover I have ever seen with witness marks of cam contact was one that died on impact with a pole, which crammed the water pump into the cam.

To clarify: the cam bolt has a protrusion to prevent the cam from walking fwd in case that ever has occasion to happen.... but with the distributor/ oil pump drive gear constantly tugging the cam aftwards.... that just never really happens. In my experience.

All I know is, I took the water pump off of the car and the timing chain cover pushed outward destroying the blades on the water pump. I took the timing chain cover off the engine to see what was happening underneath and discovered the eccentric bolt was spun out and stripped. I mean the threading on the bottom 3/8 inch of the bolt was wiped clean. And the eccentric pin / tab was broken off. so it spun freely.
The car runs great! And it doesn't look like it has had a rebuild yet.

I never seen this before either.

Wow. That's weird.

I'd love to see some pictures.

I'll post a picture of the eccentric and bolt after I get them back from the shop.

I received help from a fellow member in locating a replacement eccentric and bolt. Thanks!

The timing chain cover was repaired with a large hammer.

Ive seen one other where the incorrect sized back cam plug was tapped in too far. and yes, the dist/cam gear was shot as well... probably why the motor didn't live long and was pulled, most likely replaced with a chebby lump.

Bonus for me was a very nice new set of pistons, rings and bored and honed block.
