Front Disc Caliper Brackets 1969-74 A F & X Body

Looking for a pair of GM caliper brackets to fit a 68 442 with disc brake spindles. I listed the years and models I think apply.

I bought a pair of repops. One has a caliper mounting hole in the wrong location - so it just doesn't work, and both have 1/32 oversize holes for the mounting bolts - which seems excessive to me.

We know what you meant, but to be completely correct, it's 69-72 A-body, 69 (only) F-body, and 69-74 X-body.

Thanks Joe. I know it fits a bunch of cars, but I did not know exactly which ones. I still owe you an answer on that metering valve question - I promise to respond.

Joe - is the 1/32 oversize mounting holes in the repop caliper bracket a problem? By comparison, the mounting holes in my old drum backing plate are not oversize at all - they measure exactly 1/2 inch. I assume that is to keep the backing plate from shifting during breaking.

Yeah, you'd prefer not to have that much clearance, but the reality is that it probably won't cause a noticeable problem. There's more clearance than that between the caliper and the pins. If you are concerned, get some shim stock from a place like McMaster Carr and cut narrow strips to fill the gap once you get the bolt in place. It's time consuming but that fixes the problem once and for all. To be honest, I haven't looked at the clearance on stock brackets in quite a while. There may not be that much difference.

Thanks for the offers. Unfortunately I stumbled across a pair of brackets on ebay yesterday and hastily pulled the trigger. Yours look cleaner.

I will post info about the hole sizes after I get them.

The brackets I bought on ebay came from a 1970. I measured the 2 mounting holes. The 1/2" hole measures 33/64", so it is 1/64" oversize. The 5/8" hole measures 5/8". Doesn't appear to be oversized by more than a couple of mils, if at all.
