Delta 88 air cleaner hose

Does anyone have an air cleaner hose that connects from the end of the air cleaner assembly to the opening mounted to the inner fender? Mine is cracked and slowly disintegrating every time I even breathe on it. The GM part number is #556557. I'd take either an excellent used one, or an NOS one.

I'm guessing he wants to keep it OEM, which means that papery stuff. The Dorman deal is a bit different and it's of a vinyl material. But if that's all they got, then you either use it or you don't.

I'd prefer OEM, but I'll look into aftermarket if I have to.

The one in the picture looks like a drier hose. What is the ID diameter?

I believe the hose is the original one from the factory. This car was all original when I got it. The spark plug wires were still dated 1978. I changed them when I did the tune-up but saved the original parts.

Did you ever find this air intake hose? I’m looking for one for my 1978 Delta 88 5.7 gas. Mine is completely disintegrated. If OE isn't available I’ll settle for aftermarket.

OPGI or Classic Industries sells hoses as part of their OAI kit. I used them on my Starfire to make it look factory ish. Quality is just fine, but it’s that 60’s style cloth hose with the wires inside, not the more 70’s style fiber fabric I see above. Still, arguably nicer than this plastic. If you go that route, you can get corrugated plastic in a 4” diameter from Spectre, but it’ll look less factory.

I found the Spectre product, that’s at least an option.

Struck out on the OPGI and Classic Industries sites. I’m new to those sites so maybe I’m not using them in the best way, but when I specify 1978 Delta 88 I don’t get anything like this. In fact OPGI didn’t even call out a Delta, though I tried Cutlass and still struck out.

I blew it on the reference. Fusick sells the cloth hose for a Cutlass / 442.

https://www.fusickautomotiveproducts...number=OAIH679

I seem to recall they don’t make this part, but resell it as part of their product portfolio. You may be able to find a better deal out there.

That looks to be the “hairy Hose” like on pontiacs. Very expensive. GM went to a shiny plastic on the last run.the one in the pic is the paper type, I’ve been offered $500 for it. More like $750 these days
I have an aftermarket one that I’ll sell you cheap. It’s pulls to how long you want it. Has connector ends on it.
what year is your 88?

Mine is a 1978 Delta 5.7 gas.
I went to my Buick dealer this morning to confirm part number. They tell me the original was 554997. Mine looks like the material in the first photo of this thread. I measure mine at about 4” diameter and about 18” in length, I think I read the one for Firebird is only 13”?

There’s a few Mighty Flow on EBay that I’m looking through. I think mighty flow 96070 might work.

The later Pontiac ones were longer when the 403 was added in 77.
we count the rings, early was like 12 rings. Later was like 19
Here’s a shorter 12 ring version on my TA. some camaros had a real short one.like 74 ish
BTW, you need a Freedom topper on your 88. 😎

You can make one from a long Doorman one. We made 3 from a long hose. I wanted the shorter one on my car. Hardest part is getting the staples back in. A friend made 3 from the longer olds hose. You can re use your clips if their still good.

OEM Air Cleaner Hose

I have an NOS version of the shorter hose that I would consider selling for a fair offer if there is interest.
