Console compartment pin switch
#3
This won't help you guys find a pin switch but I was in the same boat when I restored my car in 98 and I wound up just using a mercury switch like the one inside the under hood light. I don't recall where I got it. Knowing me, it was probably a part of something else I saved "cause I might need that" someday. Radio shack probably has a mercury switch that would work. Unless ofcoarse, the epa has outlawed mercury switches..........

Dear Sir:
I am trying to locate a switch used on the center console for the 70-72 Cutlass model cars. The switch is used to control the glove box light in the rear of the console. The switch is unique in that it uses two wires to control the light because the console is all plastic and does not have a ground…..

We actually just completed the brand new reproduction pin switch for the consoles. You are correct that it is unique and no other switch will work. The new reproduction switch is 100% correct and functions perfectly. The new switch sells for $40 +$5 S&H. Used ones usually bring $65-$75 on eBay when you can find them. If you would like to order one we accept PayPal to sales@hhclassicauto.com or you can call 740-862-5229 and we take visa and MasterCard. Thanks Jeff

Since the use of this switch is limited to 3 model years and only one model ran the console (Cutlass / 442) and limited to even fewer by being automatic or dual gate console floor shift cars only as 4-speed console cars didn't have wiring harnesses which meant no switch. This dictates a very short demand part, which means lower volume, higher price. The second factor is that we manufacture all of our products here in the USA, by Americans. No overseas parts, ever. ALL of our products that we make are made right here. We are trying to keep your American muscle ALL American. This is a limited production part, once they are gone they will probably never be produced again.
