Brake Drums for 98 ´67

Hi together,

seeking brake drums for my '67 98. Front and rear axle. But there are special. I do not know of what car they were actually. But I think there are no normal Oldsmobile drums. In the pictures you see what I mean. I do not want that with cooling fins. I want those. They are more beautiful than the other.

I have been looking on the internet, maybe there are Studebaker drums!?
Hope that one of you can help me.

The optics of the drum is not important. The inner diameter and the braking surface must fit.

Thank you for your help.

1967 Olds 98 Brake Drums

I have them -- N.O.S. U.S.A. made ++ ONLY ++
They are No Longer Available in the world through regular channels....
They ARE NOT and WILL NEVER interchange with any Studebaker drums...
The Fronts are 1967 - 1969 Olds 88 & Olds 98 ONLY -- and measure
11" x 2 3/4" (remember, the actual drum depth is deeper -- the shoe does
not go "lip - to - lip"....
The Rears are 1965 - 1969 Olds 98 ONLY -- standard Full Size Oldsmobiles used 11" x 2" Rears -- the OLDS 98 was the only model that used
11" x 2 1/2"................
I also have N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake shoes -- and these are the ONLY
Brake shoe you would dare want to put in these drums.....
You can PM me or E-mail me at mobileparts@yahoo.com .... do not expect
an instantaneous answer -- as I have to go to the library to use the computer.... I usually go a couple times a week, particularly in the winter time when show season is over...... Craig.... New York...

Whats wrong with the drums you already have? I'm sure there are shops that can cut a small amount off your drums and make them true again if there is enough metal left.

@ oldcutless & mobileparts:

My current brake drums are not really good. The front drums have two deep grooves of the brake shoes. The previous owner has braked times to the rivet. The others have already grooves.I can use the drums yet, but no more long.
Therefore, I want a set of stock.

If anyone can get these drums, that would be great.

@ mobileparts:

thanks for the information.Your figures are right. Front 11"x 2 3/4" and rear 11"x 2 1/2".
Thanks for the offer. But asbestos brake pads I do not need. I prefer to take the asbestos free.Perhaps are not as good, but better for your health. My father worked in the health department. Therefore, I know that asbestos is not really healthy.

I have a drum brake 69 98 parts car that I drove a few months ago and the brakes worked fine. Obviously would have to pull them to check them. But there is a full set on that car.

Contact me direct at: lemoldsnut@aol.com

or calls west coast time 8 am to 8 pm 541-815-4363

Hi Guys,

I am still looking for the brake drums. Lemoldsnut unfortunately could not help myself.
If someone knows something or knows someone who has these drums, give modest.

Thank you very much.

To be honest *****, if you have enough metal to cut them so they are round, the grooves will not be an issue. The brake shoe material will wear and fill into the grooves.

And keep in mind....

I still have those BRAKE DRUMS -- Front & Rear -- N.O.S. U.S.A Made!!!!!!!!

And while I am sad about your father, such a miniscule amount of asbestos dust is created by brake shoes....

You enjoy nice smooth braking and they do not "rip up" the brake drums....
(Definitely the ONLY way to go!!!!!!!!)

Yours, Craig.......

Asbestos brakes and clutches did little harm to those that actually just used them. They were a better material for the drums and flywheels used then. I still believe they are superior to todays materials, at least when used with older drums and flywheels.

Carquest / Advance shows them in stock at my local store. Part number S261. Cant tell by the picture if they are bonded or riveted but I don't see what difference it makes personally. I have never had an issue with bonded shoes.
