Looking for a dual hump transmission crossmember that will fit a 65 Big Body. My forum research indicates a big body from 71-74 has a dual hump and would be ideal. Otherwise, I would need a 65-70 big body that had dual exhaust from the factory which may be asking a lot.. Thanks for any help.

All the earlier B bodys came with the dual cutout cross member for duals for the most part just like the A bodies... Should be easy to find.
Thanks for the quick responses. I referred to my vehicle as a 1965 "Big Body", as it has always been my understanding that the reference to 65-70 big body Olds included "B" and "C" cars. My vehicle is a "C" body 98. I have three of them and all have a single hump crossmember. Do the replies from Oldsmaniac and Joe refer to "B" bodies only, meaning any pre-1975 "B" body came with a double hump crossmember? Thanks.
D88s and Ninety Eights used the same crossmembers. The frames are the same except for the extra 3" of wheelbase on the Ninety Eights. There were only two trans crossmembers, P/N 386198 for cars with open channel frames and 386199 for cars with boxed frames (convertibles and RPO F35 HD frame option). The only difference between the two is the width of the crossmember, 60 3/4" vs 54 11/16". Dual exhaust was a factory available option on these cars.

No. The part numbers I posted are for the 1965-68 cars. It would be pointless to talk about 71-74 part numbers when you have a 65. The photo I posted above is a 1966.
I should add that the part numbers I posted come from the Sept 1968 printing of the parts book. I do know that there were design changes on the full size cars early in the 1965 model year. The front wheel bearings are one example. There is no listing for a single hump crossmember in the parts book, but it may have been dropped part way through the model year and the double hump used for all applications after that. I've personally never seen an Olds of that vintage with a single hump crossmember.
Dromedary is quite right. They are rare. And in this case, I was wrong and Joe Padavano, the Moderator, is 100% right. My 65 Olds 98 has a dual hump crossmember even though it was single exhaust. I apologize to the Forum and Joe for not knowing that. It would seem I am an idiot, but this has been a long frame off with gathering parts and trim, and I have not been under the vehicle in several years after it was sandblasted and painted, including the double hump crossmember, which I am the one who sandblasted and painted it. Incredible poor memory. Every thread I read about converting to dual exhaust always said to get a dual hump crossmember so I posted the wanted ad. So, thank you Joe and the other members who responded for your time and my newest "schooling".. As punishment, I suspend my posting privileges until I am done with the resto, which should be soon.
