Good luck with your search. I need one for my V Code Supreme as well, if you get more than one response.

Used on some Automatics as well. A friend has an original 71 Auto with the airdam.

The part number is 410410 in the Assembly Manual. These apparently also came with 455 equipped Cutlass models. I've been looking for one for over 4 years. If I find one, I'm seriously thinking of using it for a repro template.

Allan,
I have 2 '72 U code cars, a 2 door & 4 door, both automatics & neither one of them has the metal one? I've heard of these, but have never seen one in person or in pictures?

If I remember correctly, in 72 (not sure about 71's) all Olds A body 4 spd. 455's and all W30 cars (whether AT or MT) had the dam.

Would this by any chance be what you are talking about? I am not sure I ever understood what it was people were talking about when this came up. I have had this for a real long time and just thought it was something someone did to it. After just looking at it I think it was factory done. It has the same staples in it as the ones that attach it to the plastic. IF this is what you are talking about, it is not metal, they are plastic. This came from a 71 442 4 speed car but I can't say for sure it was original to the car.

No. Eric - its the metal brace that attaches along the back of the dam. Made of contoured metal. For 1971 it was supposed to be on ALL 442's. See the note at the bottom of this exploded view from the Assembly Manual.

In 1972 it was only attached to W30s and/or 4 speed 455's. The note in the 72 AM is different than in 71.

Ive been looking for one for years. Had a line on a perfect one once then found out it was sold to James Kryta. I asked if he was going to reproduce but he told me then there was not enough call for it. Maybe if we all called him he would make a short run.

Brian, I think he was referring to your 500.00 + shipping comment 2 posts above. Hey, it's your part and you can do with it what you want. Much as I'd love to get one, that's just too pricey for me to consider. I think you were just having some fun with us to see if there were any nibbles?
