70-71-72 Tire Tool Trunk Mounting Clips
There are a few right ways to mount these and a few wrong ways depending on year and plant of manufacture.
Which specific year are you looking for and which plant did it come from?
Someone will need to post a good pic with measurements for the year of your car.

My car is a ‘71 Convertible, built at Lansing. The assembly manual gives location specs, but I’ve heard that they’re somewhat random in exact spacing. I do have a question about the small tab on the end of the clip ... does it require an additional hole to be drilled? I assume it’s there to help keep the clip straight.
Good question.
In my 68 I drilled one pilot hole for each sheet metal screw. Applied some grease to prevent rust and tightened them down with light torque. I don't remember the locating tabs being present on these clips.
I think/thought there were subtle indents in the trunk pan to act as drill locators just for the screws. I doubt the factory would have spec'ed open holes in the pan, at least I don't see it on 68s.
