68 Cutlass/F85 442 dash map light

I have two, the one that came with the car thats burnt to a crisp and one about like the one you show. I saw a NOS about a year ago but was too late...as usual.
It has been my experience burnt plastic won't come back. Ive since instaled a switch to isolate that light when the doors are open or dome is on.
What were you thinking on this one?

Brett, Those don't look too bad. Dollars for both?
Yes, Yellow that's a good idea. LED. Thinking the same for the headlights. I cant see shizt with the T3s. Have to drive around with the brights on.

I think the on switch is black as well? Or maybe the replacements got the black? Both function the same.
A 68 Olds with the high beams on compares to a modern vehicle with the white day running lights on. Mine are not aimed up like they should be in the spec.
With all the A clowns running around with retina searing head AND driving lights on around town I don't feel bad about running the brights.
Doesn't seem to bother todays drivers. Never been headlighted. In both my modern cars I get headlighted constantly(on low beam).

Back to topic: The map light in my '69 really looks identical to the ones pictured. I'm sure a lot of (most?) show judges wouldn't know the difference.

Brett Ill pass on the lights. Same condition as what I have. Thank you for taking the time. If you run into one with zero brown or NOS please keep me in mind. TX! Steve

I seem to remember that I have a clean lens that the contacts literally rotted off of. The rivets would to be drilled out and the switch rebuilt but the price is right.....
If you're interested I'll try to find it this weekend and get a pic

You know me Mike I'm like you with the same disease. A good lens would work as I have a couple that have good guts with burnt lenses. Text when you dig it out well figure out compensation. Might be a good excuse to swing by.
