Domb light for a 1968 Cutlass convertible

The light that is above the radio, I am not sure "domb" light is the right term. Anybody have one they would part with?

Might this be the map light in the dash?

The "dome" light is the one on the roof. You're talking about a dash light, I believe. As Lady72nRob71 said, this could also be a map light, which, I believe, usually had a separate switch to turn them on, rather than going on with the headlight switch.

If it's called a map light and you have a map light mirror do you have two map lights ?
In '71 it's called a courtesy light in the illustration of the dash controls in the owner's manual then you go to the bulb usage chart and they call it a map lamp??

I call it the ashtray light. On a 68 it is right over the ashtray and radio. No problem finding the ashtray at night to snuff your butts. We know how important that was back in the day. It does come on when the door is opened and also has a switch to turn on when the door is closed.

Find these on e-bay sometimes, search under map light as that is what most refer to it as.

Don't confuse snuff with stuff.

Yes indeedy. The one above the radio and ashtray. It does come on with the door switches, so I used used "domb" light term. But it could be a courtesy light. Map light, ashtray light or just plain light, does anyone have one they would like to part with? Mine has a huge burn mark from last owner improper bulb selection.

Do you have a picture to post? Sometimes this helps more than one thinks. Is it possible to obtain a piece of plastic stock and carefully cut a new lens? I am thinking of my 72's map light, but I do not know what a 68's looks like.

A '68 lense looks like a '72 but without the black surround trim...
