68-72 350 known good running motor or parts car

I have not had any luck selling my wagon as is so I decided to get it running this weekend. I pulled the motor and took it apart only to find the block is busted from freezing at one time. I have found a cheap block local but before I go that way I was wondering if anyone with in 3-4 hours of DFW has a good motor ready to drop in or even a cheap running parts car I will take the whole thing.

EDIT: found one. No longer needed

Any idea where Aaron's engine from the 68 vert ended up? That was local to you, right?

I already asked. Insurance totaled it and took it away.

Still looking ....I might even consider a single 72 7a head so I can have a matched pair. I found a good block but I still have the issue of a #3 and 7a head

PS why the %@!* do people put stuff up for sale and don't contact you back when you contact them. Craigslist seems to be the worst. If its sold just send me a note its gone and take down your %&@# ad!!!

Just polish the chambers in the #3 head, or mill the 7.

Even if you find another block, it might need machine work and bigger pistons. It's going to be a hard road finding a nice standard one after 40 years.

Exhaust valve is different size too.
Thats why I was hoping to find a running motor.

I have found one that was pulled out of a 72 Cutlass to put a BBC in it but I am still waiting for the guy to look at the block and head numbers for me to make sure its really a 72 motor and not a 84 307 someone dropped in there.

Richard, if you can find anybody heading from the PNW to your part of the country I've got several 1968-72 350 motors. Shipping would be spendy though! John

I'm beginning to wonder. How many days does it take to walk out to your shed and walk back in the house and email me. We are going on 4 days now.

Well I think my search is over. I have had a deal on the back burner for a week with a guy that knows nothing about Olds and jerked a running 350 to put a 454 Chebby. He called my back today with the casting numbers I was wanting and we have a positive hit. Running 71 or 72 350 sitting only 6 months in a water tight building for pretty close to crap metal price. All goes well it will be in the bed of my truck Friday night.

Do you have any plans to be near Austin on a weekend? I have 2 or 3 pairs of all the 71's & 72's I parted out still sitting in the barn. It will take you 2-3 hours to dig them out the barn and find a matched pair. Stop by if you are near Austin and you can have a pair for free.
