65 throttle bracket
65 throttle bracket
A buddy of mine is working on a '65 442. He needs the throttle bracket, the 1 that bolts to the firewall for a manual trans. Anyone got 1 of those laying around? Any info would be appreciated, thanks!
I may have one on my car. I noticed the linkage from the gas pedal to the throttle linkage doesn't have the big round thing (relay?) (electric kickdown switch?) for the tranny on my 65 442. I was thinking I might transfer the one from my f-85 over, if it fits, and try to see if I can get the electric kickdown to work on my Turbo 400. If I do, I won't need the one that's there now, which looks like a similar bracket, but just a single rod, not a collection of small rods with a kickdown switch. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before I get to playing with it. Maybe you'll find one long before that.
Cheers, Dave.

I just thought I would add a little something. The 442 used a different assembly than did the regular Cutlass and F-85. I don't have them in front of me but if I recall correctly the 442 had a slightly longer arm on it where the throttle rod hooked on. May still work OK but I think the linkage geometry will be off a little. I'll keep my eyes open for the ones I have and double check.
Thanks for the replys folks!!
Dave, my buddy is converting his 442 back to a manual trans. He already has the auto bracket with the kickdown. Sounds like he has what you need and you have what he needs! Standby.....
I believe you are correct. Must be for an A-body. Thanks anyway!
That's an interesting tidbit, thank you.
