I am looking for the shifter handle for the Olds F85 auto console. I have the chrome shifter rod and linkage piece but no handle. I did somewhere about using the Ford shifter handle which I did buy but not sure how to connect it to what I have. Probably better to have the original handle. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gary
It looks like IMO your shifter is broken. It should have 2 "ears" on the top of shaft and a pivot point in the middle of the "ears" I know that's how my 64 shifter is anyway. Very common for the "ears" to break off. There is a company that makes a kit to use the shaft with a ball instead of the T handle.

The shifter setup i have looks like this one and the T handle is what I need. Are you referring to the black tips on the end of the handle as ears?
That is the shifter I am also referring to on the top of your shifter shaft you are missing the "ears" it is a broken shaft. I'll try to find a picture of what it looks like, I'm sure Joe probably has a picture available if I can't find one.
shifter and center shaft shifter ears
Your shifter is broken like most of them , if your center shaft is not broken( most are ), shift works make a conversion to change it to a ball and not the original T-handle. I don't know how well the conversion works. https://shiftworks.com/collections/c...le-replacement

My center shaft from what I can tell is not broken but looking at your picture I don't have the little piece at the top with the screw attached to it. So there is no way to repair the chrome shaft or adapt another handle or **** to it?

This is pot metal. It is not easily repaired - at least not in a way that is functionally correct. There is a really nice unbroken 64-66 stick on ebay right now.
