Don't panic. I am sure we can find you a starter. After market starters are available. If you prefer an original, I may have one and will look today. What is your preference? Original or aftermarket?

I just saw a couple on ebay. The 1107776 is correct for your 394. It is a high torque starter. Other starters that will fit are 1107716 and 1107665. Both of these will fit, but are not high torque.

1107776 is the correct number for your car. It should work if it has the right mounting end. Was the other one too weak? It may have been a low torque. Maybe the rebuilt engine is a little tight. The aftermarket starter is more powerful than the 776, but it looks very different. Let me know how this works out for you.
