55 olds yoke

Looking for a 55 Olds front drive shaft slip yoke or a complete drive shaft if you are near me. My trans is a 55R hydramatic. I would guess a 49-56 yoke would fit.

My parts book shows that only 55 & 56 with "R" type (no park position) trans are the same . # 5668443 .

Mark, I may have one. I've dismantled a couple 1954's and 55's over the years. It will be the weekend before I can dig around though.

Well, shoot. I've come up with a driveline and yoke but can't say for sure if it came from a 1954 or a 1955 Olds 88. I didn't tag it when I removed it years ago. Both cars had slant pan transmissions and I see the yoke on this driveline has coarse splines. Charlie, do you know how to determine if this is the one Mark needs? I can take measurements of anything if that would help. John

The only info I have is from the parts book .
It does mention that the 55-56 yoke has a grease fitting .
Is that a badly mangled grease fitting in the picture ?

I think the Lasalle bolt pattern is the same as Oldsmobile. Some hot rodder would be real happy with that. I'm probably telling you something you already know though.... Tedd

Ok, first thanks Tedd. Yes i already new that but i will keep the 38 yoke since i have another excellent running 371 tri power motor and it has that 38 trans on it. It is the first picture i show. Not sure what i am going to do with it yet, but just can't part with it. Next, John, here is a few pictures of my 55R splines. The second picture is the splines and the count on them is 16. The next picture is with the 38 yoke installed in the 55R trans. The next 2 pictures is the 38 lasalle yoke. Then the last picture is the 38 lasalle trans splines. Hope all this makes sense.

Would you guys happen to know how the orientation of this last race gets installed at the yoke? I failed to photograph the disassembly and can’t find anything related in the manual or online.

Thanks Charlie, not enough detail in that assembly drawing. Looks like maybe item 21, but can’t really tell and it doesn’t show the orientation. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Good morning Don. Check out this video. This guy has 3 parts in making it, but this part might help you. Check it out at about the 24 minute mark. Mean while i will look at my manuals again, which i did once already, but could not find any thing useful but will look again. Mark.
P.S. Happy mothers day. LOL.

Don, you have probably already seen this, but it's all i could find. This was taken from the 55 Olds Repair Manual.

That’s the ticket! I must have overlooked this in the manual!
BTW... Those 3 YouTube videos helped me with this task, I watched them several times.
Thanks John!
