'40s 8 cyl oil filter

I'm after an oil filter assembly(not just the element) for a '41 8 cylinder.
Although I'm not 100% sure if they're all the same, from photos I've seen they look to be identical throughout the '40s and maybe even from '38
Thanks,
Leigh

Would not a 1941 oil filter assembly have been a dealer add-on, or aftermarket product?
If yes, seems one could go with whatever they choose?

Hi Dave, from my understanding the oil filter was a factory fit item and I guess this is why most of the photos I've seen have the same oil filter installed. I'm sure many aftermarket ones were fitted at the dealer but I'd like the factory one if possible.
below is a page from the dealers ordering guide that lists the factory fitted oil filter.

It would be nice to get one for the price shown on your list for the option. Unfortunately, I don't know where to find one at any price. The Olds parts book for 1955 shows it as group number 1.836 Filter, Oil, but only goes back to 1948. It also shows the oil filter element under the same group number as type C-112, part number 5570073, fitting 1939 thru 1947 All.

Fusick also shows the filter element (only), but calls it P112.

You could take a look at Hemmings Motor News.

Best wishes.

Yep, $5 would be a bargain, and a pair of fender skirts for $14 would be even better!!
I've seen complete engines for sale with the filter on it for as low as $150 but unfortunately being on the other side of the planet makes it a bit hard to do anything
