3.42 and 3.91 ring and pinion
Are you interested in the complete rear end or just gears I could get you in touch with Arne
[QUOTE=CANADIANOLDS;1594145]It is a very minor amount. we had a set of gears for a vista that we were going to use in our race car. Nobody, at that time (~1983-84) made a spool for an Olds 8.5" type "O" rear end. We sent Henry's Axle in California the dimension's off of an 8.5 open carrier that we had laying around the shop. They made the spool and sent it to us and the ring gear literally fell onto it an was loose. We had to send them the posi carrier out of the car and they welded material at various spots around the circumference of the register of the pool, then re-machined it so the ring gear was a snug fit. The bolt circle also had to be modified a slight amount too. I have no idea why they made it just slightly bigger than the Cutlass rear.

Nice story but they aren’t any different.
the axle bearings are, but not the ring gear

I did some web searching and apparently the rearend I was thinking of is the B-body O-Type with a 12 bolt cover and 12 bolt 9.3" ring gear.

That is not correct. The Vista used the same center section as did any other Olds A-body from the same year. The differences in the Vista rear are larger wheel bearings and larger brakes (the backing plates are different to accommodate the 9.5" x 2.5" shoes).
