Hey, if you turn up any 2.56 8.2 chevy gears, let me know.
Check ebay for the 8.5s, seen lots there

fyi

Just an FYI on the 8.5" diff the 2.56 gear set uses a different carrier than the 2.73-3.73 gear set carrier. Good luck in your search.

Just curious why you want to run such a numerically low gear set?

Not for my car lol. I just need a gear set for my friends car. He runs a street stock class where rear end gears are limited to 2.56 ratio. My car needs all the gear it can have lol.

J man let me know what you have . The kicker is I just tossed a set of 2.56 gears lol. Oldspackrat let me know as well I know we talked about a few parts I wanted and I might have to push that further back. Machine shop bill for the current engine project is gonna be more than I expected.

J, if you could post what you DON'T have it would narrow things down a bit.

Copper, I have a set of 2.56 gears out of a 71 Cutlass SX. Not sure what that rear end is?? If you can use it I'll sell for $25.00 + shipping. Only problem is I can't get to it until spring, (behind cars in storage for winter) Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Greg.

Would it be in poor taste to ask how much that is setting you back? I would very much like to know as I want to do the same thing.

600 is a deal. It cost me 500 in parts alone to swap out the busted 3.73's in my ex's k5 blazer to new ones. I had my rear end rebuilt many years ago before I learned how to and it cost me 750 using a rebuilt gm posi unit and a used gear set.

That seems like quite a deal. I may check around before summer hits.
