1984 olds 98 grille needed

I need a grille for a 84 olds 98. Has to be in near perfect shape. The one I have on the car is in near perfect but some a hole glued the emblem in upside down and I can’t get it out. I’ve bought two on eBay now that we’re supposed to be in good shape but we’re far from it. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Hopefully someone on our site has the part you need. You can always look for the grill in salvage yards.

I’m an avid junkyard dog so I’m always lookin around in my local yards which I run across 98’s all the time but I haven’t been able to find one that is in worthy condition

Have you disassembled the grill and used a heat gun when trying to remove the emblem?

I have not Tried a heat gun
wouldn’t the heat mess up the grill and the emblem tho since they’re only plastic?

I never really tried to take it out bc I’m afraid of messin up the grille. I do have one of the grills I got off eBay that I could experiment on tho but I know they don’t have the same kind of adhesive bc the upside down one is glued in with some kind of yellow adhesive u can see it comin thru the little holes on the back

For goodness sake, don't melt the grill, just warm it up a bit and try to get underneath it with a plastic scrapper or knife. Yellow color........maybe it's weather strip adhesive. That would be easy. Is it rubbery? The only thing to worry about is if the back would separate and ruin things.

x2

You are correct that a heat gun can get hot enough to damage or warp the plastic grill. However, on the low setting and moving the heat gun back and forth will prevent anything from getting damaged. Good idea to test on one of your spare ones first.
