Thumbs up 1969 Cutlass convertable booboo

Hello there and thank you for accepting us into the forum, cheers!

We are looking for a little guidance or maybe a place where we can purchase the correct quarter panels.

We acquired a 1969 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. We ordered the quarter panels and ended up been sent the wrong ones. We now have a set for a 1969 coupe and a set for 1971 convertible.

One of my colleges end up 'jumping the gun' and cut off the rear quarter panels before we get receive the new ones. Now we are not sure how to proceed.

I don't think full conv quarters are reproduced for the 68-69 vert, yes your friend made a large mistake. You may find nos quarters somewhere (good luck and dig deep in your pockets) or start checking western, desert, dry areas for a yard that will cut quarters and ship. Advertise where ever you can for what you need. Beware of scammers though who prey on desperate seekers of parts.

Look at it this way, more time to clean up the innards under those rear quarters and get them protected from future rust.

Also, was there such a thing as a Cutlass Supreme 'vert in '69? I thought the '68/'69 Cutlass 'verts were Cutlass Ss. In any case, welcome and good luck finding those quarters.

From your terminology, are you located overseas? I may have found you a "starter" kit. You probably will need the lowers from the 1969 quarters you have. I highly recommend you getting in touch with this seller. Convertible quarters in any condition are rare. Good luck, Ken

Your only option now is to find rust-free original quarters from a parts car. Good luck with that, as any car with quarters that nice is likely being restored, not parted out. As noted, no one makes full quarters for the 68-69 cars. The partial quarters that you have are the only repros available. You have to cut the repro hardtop quarters to fit the convertible. Frankly, I have no idea why anyone would cut the quarters off a car being patched until the new panels were in hand to test fit them. You've got a problem.

Do you still have the quarter panels that were cut off? If so put them back on if not you’re going to have to a lot of cutting and fitting to do. It’s oing to take some time and patience but it is doable. Expect to put it on and take it off quite a few times and have a helper to do that. You’ll need a lot of clamps and screws to get it all in place. Good luck

That Buffalo car looks rusted.
The quarter wheel openings usually have disintegrated.

Ive been looking for nos for almost 40 years.

Best bet, as said is to find nice western quarters.

Really can't tell how good these quarters are but Desert Valley has a 69 convertible they are parting out.

40 years, I guess that tell one what the chance is of two people trying to find them. By the looks of the way they cut off the quarters that car will be a parts car unless they get something to work with. If you snooze you loose. Jmo.
