I need this kickdown switch for my 67 Cutlass 330 . It gets mounted to the intake manifold. Tranny is a Super Turbine 300 AKA Jetaway, the Kickdown Part # is OE group 4.057, p/n 1993355. Does anyone know where I can find one? It's a three prong.
It's not a Powerglide. It's a SuperTurbine 300 AKA Jetaway (don't confuse it with 56-60 Jetaway HydraMatic). All a PG and Jetaway have in common is they're 2 speed transmissions.
OE part number is Group 4.057, p/n 1993355, transmission throttle control switch 1965-67 V8 AT except Toronado or trailer towing package. Works on Cutlass, 88 and Ninety Eight.
If the car is six cylinder p/n is 1993327.
What's wrong with the one you have? It controls two things, downshift and torque converter stator angle. If it checks good electrically your issue is at the transmission itself, either the downshift or stator solenoid.
If you have a 67 Olds factory service manual it outlines troubleshooting steps and switch adjustment.
Post in parts wanted and see if someone has a good one they'll part with. Keep in mind what you need can come from any 65-67 Olds except a Toronado. Good luck.
.............. It gets mounted to the intake manifold.......... /QUOTE]
It actually attaches to the firewall, with the throttle pedal arm passing through to the inside.
To do so gently bend the tabs on the outer ring that hold the Bakelite (plastic) against the metal housing. Inside you’ll find some brass contacts mounted on springs. If you solder a drop of molten solder onto the worn flat contacts, you’ll be able to restore the electrical function. But to get it to operate without hanging up the throttle, you’ll need to grind the contact heights back to factory height.
To figure out the factory height, take the best of your contacts and measure it with a vernier caliper. Then match the others to that best-guess height. In my switch, if my memory serves, the height was .060. I could be wrong, so, please measure yours before accepting my measurement.
Hope that helps. These switches are rare now. If you dig around this site, you might find my reconditioning advice with pictures.
