Auto or stick? I have a very nice stick unit if that's what you need.

I didn't know there were two different air cleaners, I'm open to both.
If I had to choose, I'd like the snorkel one.
Planning on removing all my 'W' parts and want the car to still be right!

the NO-snorkel style was in use by the end of May 1967 (not sure when it was introduced?)
I believe the Cutlass Supreme 330 4-bbl air cleaner is the same design as the 442 with snorkel (or is the snorkel SHORTER?) - but painted red instead of chromed - perfect candidate for rechroming or powder coating "chrome" depending on your desired end results.
I have this 330 4bbl version $125 + shipping from NV 89108

I do have a Memorial day 67 manufactured 442 and it does have the big air cleaner without the snorkel, which, while it looks better, is a beeeeyatch to line up with the stud in the center.
Edit: That one in my avatar.

Gerald, it's in another city, but I can tell you this. The diameter of the base is the same as the diameter of the outside of the air filter. The diameter of the lid is 2 inches wider than the base and the filter, so there is a 1 inch air gap at the base of the lid, the whole way around, for air inlet. It's basically an open element air cleaner with a lip over it.

The non snorkel cleaner uses a base from a 66/67 442 open element stick cleaner. Like Koda says,it's smaller in diameter than the top and the air comes up from a hot engine. **** poor design IMHO. I have a top from the non snorkel design,no bottom but you can use a bottom from an aftermarket cleaner if anybody needs it.
