1964 Starfire console and console box

Need a 1964 Starfire console and console box. Mine are badly pitted. The console box interchanges with a 1965.

The consoles with the rocket emblem were used in 65-66. I believe in 64 they had a Starfire unique emblem. The front seat belts frequently get dropped on the console door in normal use so all the ones I’ve seen have tons of usage dings. Plus most all top plates are pitted in the front beneath the tach.

If so equipped, in 64 power window switches were in the console. Cool, unusual, feature for GM at the time.

In 65-66, those power window switches were in the door and quarter panels. However the chrome top plate casting didn’t change over those years, just the emblem. From Starfire cross in 64 to rocket in 65-66. I’m guessing this was a cost cutting measure as sales dropped.

So if you wanted to swap in power windows in a 65-66, you could carefully cut the top plate for the 4 window switches, then tap the switch mounting bosses for the switch mounting screws and have a nice sort of custom touch on a rare old car.

I never did this, but it seemed like it would be a cool tweak.

if not sold, I’m interested in the 65-66 console pictured above. If sold, good score for the buyer!

Chris
