So I'm guessing you've looked everywhere?

When I was working on my '64 Jetstar back in the early '90s, about the only thing I could do to locate parts was to get a copy of Hemmings Motor News and go through the "Oldsmobile Parts" section and call anybody and everybody who advertises as parting out Oldsmobiles of my year. There are some in there, and that's what it's going to take. Nothing for these cars is reproduced. There is no one source as you've undoubtedly found out.

One guy who advertised in Hemmings back in the '90s and who still advertises today is Larry Camuso. It's always just his name and a phone number. Sometimes just "Larry" and a phone number. 408-434-9414. He's in California, and when he had a part I needed, it was always in good shape and at a good price. I needed a rear bumper as mine had been rotted through in several places, and he had one.

Did you actually CALL every likely ad, or just browse them?

If you've called them and come up dry, it's just going to be a matter of time and persistence. You're not going to find all the parts you need today. Keep checking in future issues of Hemmings or go to their website and check for new ads. Attend swap meets and major car shows with swap meets. Fall and spring Carlisle in the east (although they're not famous for Olds parts). The OCA show in Massachusetts this summer is certainly something to check out if you can get there. Check ebay frequently as people list stuff all the time. You might consider trying to find another Jetstar 88 to use as a parts car. It's going to be very hit or miss, and you never know when you'll find something.

I originally purchased the '64 Jetstar 88 I once owned in 1991, and it wasn't until about 1994 that I finally had obtained all the parts I needed. This was when the car was 27 years old as compared to yours now being 46.

Do you have a Shop Manual if not you better get one, because some of these explanations by Classic Olds Members are going to get quite confusing so I would advise you to get a Service Manual (Shop) and read up on your projects ahead of time and it will make it easier for you to solve your problems!!!

I second this. If you don't have a set of shop manuals for your car, that is your next purchase. 1964 was an unusual year in this regard in that instead of a single chassis manual, there was a five-volume set, and you want them all. Each is maybe 3/4 of an inch thick, so they're not each like a big city phone book. But you need them, and right now. Asking on here on something like this will likely be successful eventually, but you'll have to wait until someone else with a set of '64 manuals or someone who has done specifically what you want to do on a car like yours, notices your post. Otherwise, it'll just be general advice, most of which will be "get the manuals."

The shop manuals are going to run you about $100 for all 5 whether you get an original used set or the reproductions. There are some on e-bay right now with the "buy it now" option.

Or, you can just call me and I'll read the instructions to you for $25/hour
