Exclamation 1955 Oldsmobile Starter

looking for a starter for a 55 oldsmobile. I do not have one at all so i cant get it rebuilt. looking for a used one or a core. i dont want to go with the gear reduction one i see online and just dont want to be 650$ into a rebuilt one. Thanks, Rob

To help you in your search.
The parts book says that all 1954 thru 1956 Olds took the same starter.
Factory part number was 1107638.

303 engine starter won't work?

Nope, not according to the Olds parts book.
Probably has something to do with the fact that the 303 had a 140 tooth flywheel and the 324 had 176 teeth.

There's ONE "old timey" rebuilder left in this area. Probably also a few shade tree guys too. He might have something on the shelf. I've used him a few times. Good results. K + S Auto Electric, Las Cruces NM 88005.
