1970 Ram Air hood

I've run across a few of them lately. 2 aftermarket but not used (fiberglass over metal) and one real deal original one. Anyone looking for one? They were all on craigslist.

Yep, that's the OEM hood I was referring to. Just FYI, I happen to know he will take 1400..if anyone here is serious.
Why is it that I can't find a good deal one one for my 72? All the ones I've seen are for 70's

They made a bunch more '70 hoods than '71 & '72 combined I believe. In '70 you had 3457 Rallye 350s, all the W30s & W31s with the hoods, & the Cutlass & 442 Pace cars. In '71 & '72 it was only the W30s & H/O pace cars that had them from the factory I believe.

The ram air hood was available as W25 option on all 1970's, regardless of whether they were W-cars or Pace Cars;

.....but the hood in question has MUCH MORE than just minor rust problems....and where is the underhood wire mesh screen??? I had two of these factory original cars, and both had a wire mesh screen tack-welded to the underside.....??

You can buy the screens aftermarket now. I believe the Parts Place has them!

That OEM is easy repair. Any really good body shop that does restorations or Corvettes can repair the cracks/rust. You separate the metal reinforcement from the fiberglass. Do the repairs and then epoxy the two parts back together. I have a shop that has done three 70' hoods for me in Orlando, Fla. and got top price for all three when I sold them! Cost me about $250 to $450 for two and $550 for one, to repair. Initial cost was $350 to $500 to buy. Sold them avg. price $1900 to $2300 and that was 7 years ago!

$1400.00 sounds like a fair price. I wish it was located close by, I'd probably get it for that price.

That's the hood that Parts Place is still selling for 729.00.
TAMRAZ is selling the exact same hood for 930.00
Orrr, only 900.00 on CL

Which would you spend the coin on?

There's different ones. The good ones are fiberglass over metal. There are cheaper ones that are all fiberglass.

Yes, I know that. The ones I mentioned are fiberglass over metal.
