The lister states;
"As these never come up for sale I frankly have no idea as to the value of this piece so I'll let you guys set the value. Shoot me offers and the best one gets it. Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking-Michael"

air cleaner

I did make a fair offer on the air cleaner and got an immediate decline.
So he states he has no idea of the value, yet he does know that my offer is too low......?
very interesting.

Kinda makes ya sick....big title 442W30 and not until you get into the middle of that gigantic paragraph do you find out what the car really is
Never once are the terms clone tribute etc used.
I find it misleading.
At least the seller did not lapse into describing the history of the 442

I know the discussion on the prices put upon original parts, but I still cannot get my mind around somebody asking that amount!
He has 2 bids....

That's crazy, bought a NOS 69 ram air cleaner from Focchi for 1000.00
And they were less ram air cleaners made in 69 than 70.
Some of these people find these things and in their mind its automatically worth way beyond the norm and without any pricing guides.

price & value

Add shows $2000 not $2500. Perhaps he changed it.

That is still a steep price. May I ask what others feel that this complete assembly is worth as I am in need of one for my 1970 W-31 car.

As you are well aware, there are a million variables to tha value of an item...
I will stick my kneck out and say that I would pay up to a third of what I bought my original OAI hood for...before resto...between 5-600$ max.
The value would be in knowing I have an original OAI setup....IMHO

In my humble opinion based on what I paid for a 69 NOS set up which was a 1000,
I wouldn't pay anymore than that.
But regardless of my view I think someone would give 1500 for it because historically 70 NOS parts tend to get more than other years generally speaking.

please notice he said he is waiting until its over and selling it to who ever offered him the most... Meaning he is cheating the Ebay system...

As far as worth... With the repops so nice looking you can find the air cleaner setups for like 500 to 600 bucks...

Does NADA have a value category for nice but completely unthourough clone? And I guess a missing compressor belt is just far too difficult an operation. The color on the hood doesn't match the fenders either. And what if you weren't cool in high school? What an embarrassing reunion that may end up being, hope your bullies from yesteryear don't take it out on your sweet ride.

This air cleaner price is crazy. I will state though that I have my entire drive train for my 71 w30 insured for $10K since the parts are not currently in the car, and we did assign an arbitrary value of $1K to the air cleaner assembly.
