After some lengthy medical delays, my '48 Olds project is back on the burner and I have almost the entire drivetrain for sale.
Since all of these items are unique to the Olds, I had rather sell the entire package as one lot and for pick-up only. The package consists of the following:
- a totally complete 6-cyl engine; from the fan to the bellhousing and the oil pan plug to the air cleaner with all electrical components except the wiring harness
- the three speed manual transmission
- all clutch linkage and most of the shifting linkage
- (4) mounted tires on the original rims with the full-size hubcaps. The tires are 6.70-15 Wide White Firestones, likely from Coker Tire
- Misc. bolts, nuts and other hardware associated above components The good, the bad and the ugly:
- The car was last driven (2018) over 20 miles to where it currently sits in my garage.
- Two of the tires are really good and two exhibit wear from an out of alignment front end (The casings are good enough to recap).
- the engine starts, runs and has good oil pressure with no knocks, but skips and appears to have a blown head gasket, likely between cylinders 5 & 6 (A new headgasket is included). The engine is ready to come out (resting on the motor mounts with everything else disoonnected) but remains in the car in case you want to see/hear it run. I can also video it if you would like.
- good DEKA 6-volt battery and retainer are included
- all of the parts are as removed with 70+ years of Arizona dirt and grease/oil accumulation.
- also, there is also a box of mostly uninventoried parts in the trunk that are included
Photos below show engine in car just after I bought it. I can send more recent photos via email if so desired.
You are welcome to come view the stuff before purchase. The price is $500 and the sale is pick up only. Payment is due at time of pick-up/loading.
I have an engine hoist and can help with loading.
