For sale: '68 chrome armrest backing plates cutlass supreme

The plastic backing plates have been "rechromed" and look very nice. All tabs are in place and intact on the back. These are the 20" plates that I believe are unique to the '68 Cutlass Supreme, not the 13" plates used on the Cutlass S or 4-4-2. Part numbers are 7745382 (RH) and 7745383 (LH). They would also fit on a '69 Cutlass Supreme although the style is slightly different. From what I have been able to see, I don't believe these backing plates are reproduced. Price is $175 for the pair, including shipping. Please PM me if interested.

Randy C.

NOTE: PRICE REDUCED TO $150 for both/offer.

NOTE AGAIN: PRICE REDUCED TO $125 for both, including shipping. For a '68 Cutlass Supreme! Not reproduced as far as I am aware!

Randy, I know the 68 Hurst Olds got these longer plates and I think all 442's did as well.

I know the 4-4-2 got the shorter backing pieces. My '68 4-4-2 was purchased new by my parents and the plates on it now are the same plates that were on it when it was new. I don't know about the '68 Hurst Olds.

The "re-chroming" was done clear back in July 1997. I have the receipt and it cost $70 back then. Unfortunately, the receipt doesn't show the name of the business that did the process. I was living in Southern California at the time and it did cost $7.00 to ship the pieces back to me so I'm pretty sure the business that did the process wasn't in SoCal!

I took these off of a '68 Cutlass (Supreme) in early 1997 at a pick-n-pull in Wilmington CA. I was very careful to remove the fasteners from the tabs so as not to break off the tabs. I originally was going to give them to my parents so my dad could use them when he got around to restoring his 4-4-2 (the '68 I now have) but we quickly found out these were a different size. Then I thought I would use them on my '69 but the style is slightly different and, of course, the size on my '69 is also the 13" plate. I've since learned on this site that they seem to be unique to the Supreme model. I'm guessing the arm rests must be longer as well.

The '68 Buick Skylarks used those long armrests / backing plates also.

Rusty,
I believe 2blu442 on this site (John) has these now. Inquire to him to see for sure.
