For Sale.....A Rare1973 Olds Delta 88 Door Mounted Tempeture Gauge.

I'm selling a rare door mounted tempeture gauge that came off a Delta 88 Convertible.I have seen pics of this gauge on only 1 or 2 cars.It must have been an option on convertibles because the pics of the car's I saw the gauge on were convertibles.Chrome is in good shape and still has a good shine to it.It has a plastic cover that has some cat eyes in it but not broken and has the Oldsmobile emblem on it.Price is $150.00 dollars + shipping.

It was available for all Olds (and Buick and Mopar) carlines and bodystyles starting around 71 and was not a popular option when new, even though it cost only about $10 plus installation. Later versions were made into the driver side remote mirror.

Now, 40 years down the road, people go silly over them so it'll probably be easy enough to sell.

The option is called Y71. The one you have is an older model and technically correct for pre 1974 or 75 I think. They aren't re-buildable so condition is everything. It also needs a special base gasket, body mount, pop rivets and mounting screw for the body mount. These aren't really 'rare', but they weren't commonly ordered or installed on many cars.

My car has one of these that I installed back in 2008. Mounts directly in front of drivers mirror. There are templates in the box for the indicator that shows the mounting locations on all the Olds models.

Dealer SPECS guide for 72 calls it Indicator, outside temperature ....15.00

I looked at the SPECS booklet for 70 and 71 but the indicator is not listed in them, so this leads me to believe that 72 was the first year this was offered.
