Replated '70-2 Hood Lock and Latch - Great cond. and different "look"
Up for sale is a great condition '70-72 Cutlass, etc hood lock and hood release latch. I replated these long ago in yellow zinc and they have a cool look. Not super shiny or ultra reflective like you see on some zinc finishes.....more of a toned down finish that almost looks like cadmium.
>New black phosphate mount bolts included for both pieces
>New retainer clip for the rod that runs down to the relay/pivot on the nose piece
>Super clean pieces prior to plating - not pitted, etc
Great parts if you want a little more contrast with the surrounding black finished core support top surface and hood underside----yet they won't "glare" at you like they would if they were a super bright or shiny yellow zinc.
These parts will easily ship in the same tube as my Gas Tank Pad if you also need one of those.
$65 for the pair shipped in the lower 48
Payment by check or MO....no paypal

Thanks Chris - If the '69 lock and latch are different from the '70-2 style I have here then, no, I can't really help.
I have a real nice '68 hood latch/hook advertised here in another ad but I think that part may be unique to '68 cars. The one I have is redone in the original grey phosphate.
I have other '70-2 hood locks and latches that have been replated in the phosphate finish. Mostly in the dark charcoal finish. I've never done a side-by-side comparison of the '69 hood lock and '70-2 locks...probably should do so.
I can put together completely refinished assemblies (from the hood lock all the way down to the black-plastic pull handles....all redone and with all the unique parts, fasteners, etc) but they will be the '70-2 versions.
Not sure what the '69 hood release latch looks like....what differences, if any, there are (the part that bolts onto the hood underside).
NOW---SOMEBODY BUY THESE COOL GOLD PIECES! I got this idea from the cover of one of David Vizards "HP Series" books...."Performance With Economy". On the cover there's a '69-ish looking Camaro engine compartment front end and part of the hood lock assembly in that pic is done up with this yellow/gold plated finish and I always thought it looked real cool. Some dude is leaning over the D side fender wearing one of the great looking striped windbreakers made back then. He's paying attention to the twin-turbo Gale Banks motor in the engine compartment but it was the hood lock stuff that always caught my eye....great subtle contrast.

Bruce-
Yes - the hood lock and latch/release handle (like those I have for sale here) work on both regular steel hoods AND the OAI hoods (W30's, etc). The factory used the same lock and latch for both style hoods.
Check your PM box....I sent you some info and questions there as well.
Thanks
