Rear Ends for sale - 71 3.73 posi /68 31 spline 4.66 12 Bolt
As the title states, I have a two posi rear ends for sale. The first one is an 8.5 10 bolt, 3.73 posi rear out of a '71 W-30. This is an original "TO" code rear. ALL the numbers check out. Numbers stamped on tube are TO OO81. Left center near the plug weld is stamped C 19 and the ring and pinion are dated 8 70 / 7 70 accordingly. This is the real deal and not some re stamp. The housing is very nice, smooth tubes. Re-painted or powder coated, this would be a beautiful housing. The second rear is a '68 12 Bolt Olds Type-O 31 spline, 4.66 posi rear. Housing has normal surface rust and some pitting. Painted up, will look decent. Original stamp was also TO. My personal opinion is these were dealer installed back in the day as you can tell they have been in the rear a long time. Both of these rears are untouched and appear to be in good mechanical shape. Personally, though, I would go through them and never have to worry about them again. NO brake hardware comes on either. I can rebuild these for a fee if someone is interested. I can provide pics if needed. Either one, $1,400 obo plus the ride to the nearest freight terminal or to a business, anywhere in the lower 48. I can ship to a residence, but freight companies always tack on an additional surcharge between $55 and $75 depending on the company. Additionally, I have tons of posi units, gears, etc to include 8.5 10 bolt, Type O (very limited) and tons of Chevy 12 bolt stuff for the Canadian built cars. Also, my business partner and I are the only ones having the type O and corporate 8.5 clutch kits manufactured. There are other companies that carry these kits now, but they all buy from us. Forum members receive a discount on these kits. I rarely check PMs so my apologies for those I have not responded to in the past. All interested parties can e-mail bponti442@aol.com or call 501-454-4947.

Yea, if this would've been a 3.91 or possibly a 4.33, I probably would be using it in my '69 with the overdrive trans. 4.66 is just a bit more than I want to deal with and I really don't feel like going through the hassle of buying a set of Richmond gears and then having the ring gear flange machined down on the 31 spline unit.
