So thats quick

something that works, with my 350 engine?
its a 1969, but have a 390327 intake on a 9.0 low compression with 5 heads.

i now running a 600cfm edelbrock manual choke performer carb, and are searching a Q jet to play with.

When i bought the intake i was getting the carb with it. way to big for my 350.

i realy don't know yet,

i know, id do have the original intake.
it's a 2 barrel with a cracked feul inlet carb 7029156.

becouse it is broken, i put on a 4bl intake 390327 that i found in the netherlands.
and bought me a 600cfm edelbrock manual choke carb set on performance.

i do not sell the 2bll becouse of it's originality. even if it's broken

from the same guy i bought the intake, i also get the carb.
never understand it why.

the intake is a olds style and the carb is the divorced one.
and it's a 455 carb he hase given me with the 350 intake.

i can't get my iddel right with my 600cfm ebrock performance carb.
when hot it drive's fine,
but stationairy it hasitate a little, and when to fast on the pedal it could backfire.

it did'nt backfire with plug point gap of 30, but read that with a hei the pointgap should be larger.
So i gona change it back, by ordering new plugs.

the carb is set on performance manual choke, timing i advanced it to 8 degree i.s.o. 6.
set the axelerator pump to max, helped quit wel.

with changing the iddel mixture screw it gona be worse than before.

what should i change, the timing (can't feel the difference) or bigger primory jets and rods.
Or did i make a mistake by buying a 600cfm in stead off a 750.
Or the intake is not maching my setup.

It does'nt start without help off choking.
and the problems i have ar gone if the engine heats up.

strange, it drive's realy fine, but has a hasitating iddel.

could the plugs also be the problem? had differend grade than recomended ( high compresion i.s.o. low compresion plugs)

Just to clarify

You do not have the divorce choke manifold for a 350 4 barrel carb Correct?

in a dish.

Cubus = cube

Correct?

Can you get q-jet rebuild kit there?

small metal cube with a spring in it.

Don't know, never asked for it.

but i buy regular parts at fusick's.

i know, they are not cheap but it works great for me.
and the parts over here ar even more expencive.

If you are looking for a carb for me, what do you want for it?
Before any mistakes are happening

Ok Im kinda confused here. Are you trying to trade a Qjet off a 455 for one that came off a 350? If so the Qjet off the 455 should work. Since the secondaries are vacuum controlled on qjets its impossible to "over-carb" your engine.

If the 455 qjet works well,
I'd use it.
It will be the same thing as a 350 qjet.
They are both 750cfm. Just a little bit different rod and jet combinations.

You can order new Qjet rods and jets from edelbrock for tuning.

What do you mean with a kit?

could i change the choke advance to? from divorced to a cube type?

I have a 69' chassis repairmanual, can i use this if i want rebuild my carb?
even mine is from 72?

I'd t check if everything is on it.
that's why it was for free, il put it on and did'nt work properly.
Since it's lying on a shelve.

So what do i need? exept for new rods and jets

Im gonna revive a old post but I figured its best instead of starting a new one...

not long ago, I picked up a olds 455 for rebuild, it came with rochester Quadrajet 7042251. It looks pretty dirty and rusty.. what should I do, attempt to have it rebuilt or junk it? is it even worth anything?

depends on what you want to spent.

you have 3 options,

rebuild your existing carb.
vind a replacment, that maches the big block and the year of carb you want.
and buy a new carb.

dismantel your carb and look if the inside is clean, do not set anything and be carrefull with the floatbowl.
my experience is that major adjusments and new jets are difficult to get it run right again.

This is my experience with zenith carbs, so i clean them now carrefull and only fit new gaskets. i check the floatbowl but i try not to adjust hem anymore if the engine runs fine.

Most oldsguys prefer the quadrajet,

Or if anybody has one and is thinking of scraping it,i could use the base plate.I accidently broke mine while taking it part.Anything that will work for a carb off a 455 olds auto woud be cool.
