That is what it has been reduced to. Instead of making multiple posts for same thing, by editing it and then replying it is updated to a new post for everyone to see instead of just editing the post from a while ago it never gets moved.
For ex: If you go back to an old post you made and edit a word or price, nobody will see that unless you reply to it and make it a new post. I had same question a while ago.
