parting out '71 S, nice frame, & floors, more

Hi,
Parting out a '71 S. It was a complete car when we started & we still have most of it left. It is a basic 350 4bbl, th350 car. Bench seat, AC, blue paint & interior, drum brakes, light package & not much else. Floors look to be very nice, package tray area looks nice, but I haven't pulled the glass yet, front cowl under the windshield looks very nice with just some minor surface rust & no rust through anywhere. Pass fender is very fixable with only very small rust through at usual bottom rear, brace on back is very nice.SOLD Pass door is very nice also with no rust seen other than very light surface rust at bottom inner seams, no bulging, or bubbling though.SOLD plain flat steel hood is good, trunk lid is very nice with no rust, bulging seams, or damage. drivers fender & door were sideswiped. They are fixable, but probably not worth it. Drivers door has no rust, just beat up, maybe a good candidate for reskinning? Quarters are rusty & damaged. Blue dash pad has one crack, otherwise nice. Radio holes are unmolested. All ac ducts & components are there, nice condensor, lines, & brackets also. Core support has a little rust under battery tray, not real bad, not real nice. Headlight housings & bezels are nice. Stone shield is junk, front & rear bumpers are decent/straight cores, all lenses & housings are good/ok, All glass is good, blue bench seat is ripped/torn, good core, back seat is good core also. Have all 4 14" bolt on cap SS II rims. single track 10 bolt rearend, 350 engine has a knock in it when cranked over, sounds like something is loose & banging around in the oil pan???? Was told by previous owner that it had been rebuilt at some point, maybe something came loose?? I've never heard an engine make the sound it's making. Supposedly we had a buyer for the frame, so we removed the body & engine trans already.FRAME SOLD So most parts are ready to go, or can be made that way shortly.
All parts are located on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. You can come pick them up, or I can ship them also. I've got tons of other '70-'72 parts also, nothing too rare or valuable though.
Call Scott for info. & prices.

I'd be interested in the chrome rocker moldings if you have them both...also, under dash courtesy lights and map light mirror if you have.

Scott 442,
If I remember right, the rocker moldings were very nice, maybe a few tiny dings, but I don't remember any, just the usual light wear scratches & need to be cleaned up. How about $90.00 shipped.
I have a nice lighted rear view mirror from another '71 that has been tested & that works. It needs cleaned up a little bit, but no cut wire or scratches. The glass has just a little bit of the black fogging/delaminating?, but it is still very usable. $45 shipped?
On the under dash courtesy lights, would you want the optional light harness? It included the under dash lights, glove box light, lights over the wiper switch area, & the map light by the glove box. I believe it was a plug & play harness to the existing dash harness. $25.00 shipped? If you want all these parts, I'll cut the shipping a bit.

Is the weatherstrip channel behind the trunk latch rust-free.I's take that,if you cut it between the 1/4's.
How about the rearend core? Will you ship that?Do you have an ABF Freight terminal nearby?
I might take the trunkild too, just to have a nice spare.I just hate those 1/4" holes.

Brian,
If I remember right, the weatherstrip channel is pretty clean, but it is a bit wavy, like the car has been hit in the rear at some point. It's not bad, but it is noticeable. I'll try to get some pix of more parts this week if you want to see it. I would ship the rear, I'm sure there is a terminal in the city somewhere. Not sure what I would ask for the channel or the rear end. I know you work with rears a lot, so let me know what a core is worth to you. I'd like to get $200.00 for the trunk lid plus shipping.

The chrome piece on the drivers side back window, is it nice? What about the windshield wiper escutcheon?

I need one of two or these disc prop. valve screws, as well as the rubber end piece in 2nd pic.

I also need a nice shape vapor/charcoal canister bracket + screws.

Here are a few pictures of what I could get to tonight. The mirror worked as soon as I put power to it. The black could use a freshening up. The glass is pretty nice, but not perfect. The wire has one nick in it at the top of the stem. a little liquid tape should fix it though. Otherwise a nice piece.

Front of hood trim pieces for a '71 also.

Nicest wiper escutcheon I could find.

When you say chrome piece are you talking about the aluminum wide part on the bottom outer edge of the drivers quarter window? About 3/4" wide & gets wider toward the back of the window? It has a matching part at the bottom of the drivers door glass? If so, I'll get a picture of that, probably tomorrow.

I know I have a canister bracket, I'll have to check its condition & get a picture or two on here in the next day or two. Also, I'll check on the bolts & rubber piece for you.

Rocker moldings look very good. I did not see any dings, dents, or damage. They need to be cleaned/polished, but otherwise are nice.

Once I pulled the rubber, the weatherstrip channel has some pitting & a couple tiny pinholes. There might be more if you blasted it though?? Not bad, but not perfect.

Cannister bracket will clean up real well. No rust through at all & only some light surface rust. Couldn't find the correct bolts, but I'm sure someone on here can tell you which ones they take.
Wiper motor looks like a good used one. I did not test it.

Those screws are GM part number 9432544 and 64-77 Chevelle Parts has them.
A GM dealer may even have them.

Do you have the cylinder head bolts for the A/C brackets. Its the bolt with a threaded stud on top?

How is the lower core support? Rusted out under the battery? If not, I'd be real interested!

Ely442, I'll have to dig around a bit, I MIGHT have one of those bolts.

Kitfoxdave, It has some rust, not real bad, not great. Might have a better condition one also. Do you need one for a '71? You probably know this, but '70 & '72 are both different. I'll try to get a pix or two on here.

I'm looking for the rear part of the trunk floor. Basically from the bottom of the trunk up to the trunk latch area. Specifically, I need the rear trunk support that is welded to the bottom rearmost area of the trunk. It goes across the back underside of the trunk that the rear most part of the car sits on the rear frame crossmember. So if the trunk floor was cut across the back of the car from trunk drop to trunk drop. I think that bracket also welds to the inner side of each trunk dropoff.

Hope that's not too confusing?

Thanks

Mike

Kitfoxdave,
Here is a pix of the battery tray area. It is a bit rusted. If it's too rusty for your needs, no problem. If you want more pix, I can get them in a day or three. Again, I may have another 1 or 2 '72 core supports, I'll get some pix of them as well.

The whole system is there, good condenser, hoses, compressor, brackets, firewall box. Only bummer is the inner half of the firewall part is cracked, like almost every other one. Also have all ductwork behind the dash, let me know what you may need.
Thanks.

A quick tip that may be of interst to you. Does your car have the Supreme grills? If so, you may want to make sure you get a 72 Core support and not a 71 Core support. The 72 Supreme grills need that extra bump to avoid rubbing on the core support as shown in the the 1st photo below. The 2nd photo has the correct 72 core support. Look at the area where the grills wrap inward:

Thanks.
My system is about 75% complete and restored. the clutch on my compressor is shot and i'm missing some assorted brackets. I found a condenser and all the lines at the fall jefferson, but not sure if they are good or not. Let me go through and figure out what i need ad i'll PM you with my needs.

Thanks,
Dave

An update on the car. The body is off the frame, the engine & trans are out also. The frame is nice except for a little damage at the very front of the passenger side horn. Not too bad & I would think still usable. The front cowl area is very nice & solid around & below the windshield. I will pull the front & rear glass soon & take pictures of the rear window & package tray area. All glass is good, engine is complete & I will part it out or sell as a core engine. The car has pretty decent dual exhaust also. All four 14" SS II rims with bolt on caps are there. Floor pan is pretty nice also. Any other requests?
