Two rear ends for sale:

2.78 positraction O-axle rear end. SB code. Fits 64-72 A body. Housing has some rust and pitting. Internals very good. Backing plate to backing plate. $550

3.08 positraction O-axle rear end. SD code. Very clean. Has been painted. Backing plate to backing plate. Needs upper control arm bushings and one axle needs axle studs. Very clean inside. $800

Any idea what year they are? Early ones (1969-older) have sealed axle bearings and an oil seal pressed into the tube end; later (1970) have an open bearing and the oil seal sandwiched on the axle shaft between the bearing and the backing plate, the same as the 71-up corporate 10 bolt rears.

Both housings have the 402227 casting numbers on the center section . They are both the 67-69 sealed bearing type . BOB

 

Correction those are 1970 rears as per the 402227 casting # and will have open roller bearings with oil seal.

 

The casting numbers are correct for the 1970 o-axle . They will fit the 67-70 cutlass body .

 

They will fit a lot more cars than that. Good luck with the sales.
