This is a strange one. The carb number is correct, the date is a known 7040258 build date. The broadcast letter code is certainly incorrect. I haven't seen one like that previously. It would be interesting to see if any of the component parts are correct for a 7040258. The left side of that 8 is too round and open to be originally an 8. I'd say this is a 250 that's been altered. The smooth finish is a giveaway as well.
I like the easy payment plan. If you're paying $188 a month for your carburetor, what do you have left over for engine, transmission and the rest of the car?

This carb looks mostly correct because as stated above, only the "0" would change to an "8". The 7040250 carbs had the 2659 julian and an NF pick code. 258's are always an RK pick code, which is a dead give away. IMO.
I agree, this is a restamp. The 8 is certainly not like my original 2659 dated 7040258 and as stated above the code is incorrect.. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...95/#post588047 In the ad he says he has other 70 W-30 parts. Buyer beware.
The other thing I've noticed about the 2659 dated 258 carbs is that the 8 is upside down, with the larger circle on top. Seems to be a confirming point if you have that date.
