Flywheel bolt patterns for 64-67 are different than 68 and newer.

On the plus side these replacement short blocks may have manual trans crankshafts in them so they could be drop in an automatic or manual trans car.

Yes, they fit right into other small blocks
My 403 has one
You do need the proper matching flexplate or flywheel, and have the assembly balanced of course.

Wow this thread is old but deserves an update! I sold my 330 for the crank and the air cleaner is up in the attic.

I'm not sure how this old thread got off onto 330 forged cranks, but the OP says that the two engines for sale are Jetstar I motors, ie, 394s. I am surprised that they are still available six years later.

I thought they were 330's as stated early on in the post.

Sorry, I missed that one. I was looking at the original post that had been edited specifically to say "Jetstar I". Sorry for the confusion.

How can anyone be surprised they are still for sale? That's a ton of money for a short block that probably needs to be gone through again anyways. I would love to see what almost 45 years of sitting around has done to it inside the block.

I'd be willing to bet they are almost as fresh as the day they were born. Also, we have not seen any pictures of these little jewels.

Well I am selling a complete good running 330 w/flexplate, so someone can take who think for what the folks are selling just the cranks for. I just have it sitting. PM if interested.

So, just to recap:

In October of 2008 (6½ years ago) you posted two NOS '64-'65 330 low compression short blocks, GM P/N 393966 for sale for $1,800 each,
you have bumped the thread every year or so since then,
they are still for sale at the same price, and interested parties can call Dick at 978-452-8194 or 978-902-8415, at Shaw St. Automotive, Lowell, MA.

Also, as noted: "... these have yet to be stamped, so the owner can match VIN # to their vehicle."
Of course, since Olds did not begin stamping VINs onto engines until three years after this block would have been installed, and since the engine series numbers used when these engines were manufactured were stamped on the heads, which are not included, this piece of information has no relevance.

(2)64 Jetstar 330's OEM NOS engines

These engines are still available and sitting in his storage room. Since Dick is an old old school mechanic, he does not communicate via the Internet. Interested parties should call the garage at (978) 458-9427, (978) 452-8194 or on his cell (978) 902-8415 weekdays 7:30- 6:00 PM EST

It has been 9 years since the original post and this thread has been bumped and bumped again and again. Unless he has drastically reduced the price, which I see no indication he has, it doesn't appear the guy is too anxious to clear out his back room. Demand does not support his asking price. This thread has become comical.

64 NOS 330 Jetstar engines

What can I say. This is an old school mechanic, who does not even have an email address. Trying to do a friend a solid. Recently lost his son who was running the business. The engines are pristine. Tried unsuccessfully uploading pictures and original paperwork to this thread. I can send them to interested parties, email request to tennysonma@aol.com

Where are the crank and rods? So is that what a "fitted" block is - block and pistons, sans crank and rods? Wow, if folks sell these for the forged cranks only, imaging how desirable one with out a crank is?

I understand that you are just the messenger. I was merely pointing out that without the forged crankshaft those blocks have nearly zero value to the general Olds community members.

The problem is that at that price there are no interested parties. I admire you for trying to help a friend and that you are just the messenger. As mentioned, without cranks these block have very little value since there is hardly any demand.

They are probably worth their weight in scrap. The low compression pistons are not desirable, so really the only thing the buyer is getting is a virgin block.

While at his garage the other day Dick said he was wanting to sell off many of his items. When asked about the engines, he stated he would sell them for $500. Each. Which is a lot less than he previously wanted. I believe is is in the process of retiring. He can be reached at 978-902-8415
