A lot of the repopped 71/72 cutout bumpers are just as good quality and fit nowadays (especially Tamraz). Still there's someone who will insist on NOS but it will cost mega $$$. I would bet the reserve has a comma in it.

lol i hear that Allan. And yes, this would be for that guy who must have that original piece which i can relate too as thats how im trying to restore my 442. Nothing wrong with that. I try to buy NOS whenever i can and i agree that alot od repop parts do look great and fit well too.... but itll NEVER be NOS. And no, the reserve doesnt have a comma in it....

If you have an NOS one beside a repop you can see that the chrome is a much different shade. The repops have a much more white chrome compared to the original. The original almost looks like it has a bluish deeper tint to them.

Eric, it's strange you say that because it was the same comment that others made about repops compared to OEM back a few years ago. I'm really happy with my Tamraz bumper, and when I compared the chrome quality to my OEM one? No difference in chrome color or quality at all. I did buy the OEM one new from an Olds dealer back in 84. It's in the shed wrapped in waterproof padded shipping paper. One of these days I should sell it because I won't be putting it back on the car.

The diff is the chrome..old chrome has a blue tint and new has a yellow tint...my personal observations..I put more chrome bumpers on cars than I care to remember...materials...chemicals..process has changed dramatically

Anyone needing to get a great re-chrome, contact these guys...and they are very reasonably priced. The original plating is called "hexavalent chromium" (the blue stuff) and that's what they use...
