Need Thermometer gasket?
Need Thermometer gasket?
Hello everyone,
In the Newbie Forum I asked a few weeks ago if anyone would be able to help me with the gasket I needed for the installation of the thermometer option (on the outside of the door) on my '72 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Not too many responses, frankly as expected. I don't believe there's an aftermarket for this particular gasket.
Nevertheless, I received some good pictures from other Oldsmobile enthusiasts and "borrowed" some from the internet also. And with those examples I drew a sketch. My son helped me making a drawing in a professional construction software package, and gave me some files with which any construction worker should be able to work.
I used the files to have the gasket I needed printed out on a 3D printer, and personally I think the result is very good. You can judge for yourself in the picture I attached.
Since it's hard to obtain those little gaskets (not too many thermometers on the market, and used ones are almost always without any) I would like to offer the drawings I have to other Olds lovers. For free, of course. If you would like them, send me a PM and I will reply adding the drawings to be used with any 3D printer (I hope).
Thanks,
Louis

I hadn’t seen this thread when originally posted. It would be great to do the same for ‘70-72 Vista Cruiser/Cutlass Cruiser air deflectors. I think I sourced the last NOS set from Shifty Sydney..😆
I have a few more available if needed
I had to make one for myself and once i got it working for mine, i made some extras.
Message me if you'd like to purchase one
Thanks
Rob
Rob,
Would you happen to have any additional thermometer bases/ gaskets available for the door mount?
Many Thanks,
