My Lansing built 65 442 convertible didn’t have one when I dropped the tank, did all of the cars get one?

Thanks

The Gas Tank Pads are $28 each + shipping. PM me with your COMPLETE shipping address(not just your zip code) for a total cost including shipping.

I can also make these in other sizes so ask if you have something other than an A-body (Cutlass/442/Skylark/GS/Tempest/Lemans/GTO/Chevelle/Malibu).

My pads are a nice thick material, very similar to the original...however, they won't crack and crumble like the original material tends to do.

Price is $28 each + shipping

PM or Email me with your zip code and I can send you a total including shipping. Payment can be regular check or MO...I don't use paypal as it only adds costs.

Here are some pics:
Do you still sell these pads? I have a 72 Cutlass which seems to not have a full pad, but just 2 strips where the tank contacts the trunk floor. How thick is the pad?

Also, I saw somewhere selling some type of padding to go between the straps and the tank - is that a factory configuration? There was nothing like that on my tank straps. Could strips from your pad be cut and used between straps and tank?

I tried to check the 72 Cutlass Assy Manual on Wiki parts, but apparently the site is down. I have the chassis service manual for the car and it doesn't even mention pads anywhere on the tank (not enough detail).

Thanks,
Barry

Barry - I've had plenty of '71 and 72 owners buy and install my Gas Tank Pad......but technically, the factory stopped using them sometime after the 1970 model year.

Material b/n the straps and the gas tank - Olds did not do that on their cars so no need for it on yours. I guess you could put something in there but again, the factory didn't do anything there and it's really not needed. Some of the repro vendors sell products that are sort of "made up"....ie - selling "reproduction" parts where the factory didn't use ANYTHING at all. More products = more potential sales.

The thickness of mine is approx 1/8".....basically the same thickness as the originals.

Patton, My 1970 CS Convertible build date August 1969 did in fact have material between the tank and the straps. I’m the 2nd owner since the mid-70’s and the car was unmolested when bought. I replaced the tank just a few years ago. See images of material.

Barry - I received your PM and will send you the cost, etc.

As far as material b/n the straps and tank.....I go by my own experience and by the Assembly Manual.....neither indicates the use of any strips.

Thanks
