I assume this is 69-72 A-body. What makes it "parts" quality?

the last picture shows the linkage on the bottom of the column, notice it is straight, some have a curved linkage. I thought one was for 70 the other for 71/72 though they all can be made to work. Anyone know for sure if there was a difference and which is which?

As Paul Harvey observed, "Here's the rest of the story."

Here's the deal. I sold it in good faith to a member here who said it wasn't right. I'm not going to get into that. It is pictured today next to a known 72 Cutlass floor shift non-tilt unit. It was sent to him with the large splined shaft, looking just like the non-tilt, with the retaining cover and clip in place.

No problem, send it back. It was returned to me as you see it. There wasn't anything wrong with it when it went out. It didn't have the starter switch on it is all. D/A me, I didn't have any pics saved before I sent it out so yeah, here's your $ back. So now it's just a parts column.

Steven, I'm not sure but maybe the straight shaft is for a manual trans unit?
With no pics saved, I couldn't tell you if I sent it out with a straight or curved arm. All I know is it was dismantled and returned as you see it.

I believe the straight version belongs to 73-77 while the curve is for at least 69-72.

Tom, I have one of those 73-77 units too. It does have a straight arm, but notice the shaft on the end. It doesn't have the splines. Also the lower part past the tilt on the column is plastic not metal.

Right...The earlier shafts are splined. My understanding was the short arms were manual trans...at least for 69. But that column you have should go in 69-72 manual or not.
