Engine block from 70 W-30, Check your VIN, 30M149295

I had forgot about this engine but I have a 455 block that I was told is from a 70 W-30. This block is from the barn load of stuff I got back in 2012. The story was that he bought it and did not appear to have ever been apart when he got it. He said it had all the correct W-30 parts on it when he got it but did not see the car it came from. He ran it for a while in another car till he broke a rod. Not even sure if the block is salvageable but maybe with a sleeve? It is FREE to the person that has the car if the car even still exists. If it really was from a W-30 it had to be a VERY early build car. It has a 4 speed crank still in it so likely from a 4 speed car.

Number 30M149295

awesome

That's the opportunity of a lifetime. A friend of mine has a 442 and a past owner tracked him down to see if he wanted the original motor. Christmas in July. I hope the one you have ends up back with the car it came in.

That is awesome Eric. Hopefully you will be able to reunite it with the original car.
Does it have the correct heads and intake as well?

No, when he broke the rod he took all the good parts off of it. It is most of a short block. I need to look again but I think the cam is still in it. I need to pull it out and see if it is a 4 speed W-30 cam. That would help confirm that it was from a W-30.

Very cool thing to do Eric , I hope you find it's home. I have a 71 W30 engine and automatic transmission that needs a new home too.
